I am Bivish Ghimire from Nepal, home to the highest peak of the world, Mount Everest.
In Darwin, I am a second year Masters student in Civil Engineering at Charles Darwin University. Following my completion of a Bachelor in Civil Engineering from Nepal I chose Charles Darwin University for my postgraduate degree, because of its world class curriculum on pure civil engineering content and European accreditation.
While Darwin can be a bit hot for me, there are lots of happening places and events, which cannot be found elsewhere. The places like windows on wetland, jumping crocodile in Adelaide River, Crocodylus Park, Nightcliff Jetty and the Mindil Beach Sunset markets are some of the places which you should not miss.
I have also had the opportunity to meet lots of people from all around the world and get involved in different active groups in the university. Currently, I am involved in the student ambassador program for Charles Darwin University, where I have made lots of friends from different ethnic groups and countries and engaged in various activities within the university. I also serve on the CDU Academic Advisor Board representing Postgraduate Students and discussing policy from the student's perspective.
When I was looking for a casual job I found people to be very friendly and supportive, which helped me to get the job in one of the biggest nightclubs here in Darwin.
Darwin is a place where I can enjoy an independent life which is something I really value in my life.
